He has an affectionate and calm temperament but with, still, his little moments of madness. He's a cat that gets along famously with other animals. He will never turn into a tiger with claws out.
He's a sociable and tender cat with his masters, he loves company and he knows how to be gentle and docile. One of the most common behaviors in the British cat is purring. Rarely talkative, his voice is soft. He's a charmer.
Kneading is part of its character, even as an adult. A bit precious, it appreciates comfort and if you leave a very soft blanket or a sweater at its disposal, it will be the happiest.
But each animal has its own temperament, and even if certain character traits often recur, they are not systematic in all specimens of the breed.
The personality of the British Shorthair
The British is rather an independent cat, but it appreciates interactions and playtime with its owners as much as rest time. It's a calm and balanced companion that adapts to all environments.
